Eng Exam Classes:

FCE B2 (FIRST)

Students enrol on a 1 - 2 year course to obtain the level of B2. Students have the option of enrolling for the B2 FCE Cambridge exam once they have established a satisfactory level of english.

The course focuses on all aspects of the English language: grammar, reading, writing, speaking & listening. We believe that this course is the most comprehensive way of attaining a B2 level of English.

CAE C1 (ADVANCED)

If students have demonstrated a B2 level of English, They are eligible to begin an advanced level course, with the option of enrolling for the C1 CAE Cambridge exam once they have established a satisfactory level of English.

The course focuses on all aspects of the English language: grammar, reading, writing, speaking & listening. We believe that this course is the most comprehensive way of attaining a C1 level of English.

 

CPE C2 (PROFICIENCY)

 

The CPE Cambridge exam is usually only required for those who would like to teach English or who need it to access work or educational opportinuties. It is a highly acedemic exam and requires a serious committment from the student. It is the final step in proving your competency in the English language and is considered the highest level ESL qualification. Please note that as a lot of work and time is required both form the student and the teacher, there is a higher price per hour for proficiency courses at ENG IGUALADA. TRINITY EXAM

If you are only interested in proving your communication skills, Trinity would be a good option for you. There are two options. One which only tests speaking ability and another which tests all skills. Prepartion for this exam doesn't take as long as the Cambridge exams, total preparation time will depend on the level you start with.

IELTS

If an official certificate is required to study or live abroad, students can chose the IELTS.. There are 2 types of IELTS exams; General and Academic. The academic exam is used for University applications abroad while the General exam is for work, immigration, and everyday use. This exam tests all skills cannot be failed, rather it determines what level you have.

TOEFL EXAM

If you are applying to Universities in the U.S or Canada, you will probably be asked to do a TOEFL exam. You should already have a competent level in English. It is a highly academic exam and is based on college lectures, academic coursework and conversations. The focus on the language used in an academic, higher-education environment. Depending on your starting level, the TOEFL ibt exam could take between 6 to 12 months to prepare for.

​Which One Should You Choose?

If you need an academic qualification for university or work, Cambridge exams (B2 First, C1 Advanced, etc.) are usually better and are widely accepted by universities, employers, and governments worldwide. The Cambridge exams do not expire. They test all 4 skills; speaking, listening, reading, & writing. They are quite academic and require a lot of preparation and in-depth knowledge of the English language. However they are gerenally seen as the gold standard for professional English with the Cambridge C2  Profficiency exam(CPE) considered as the highest-level ESL qualification.

If you only need to prove speaking ability for immigration or work, Trinity GESE may be a quicker and more practical option. However,  it’s not as strong for professional CVs as Cambridge. Like the Cambridge exams, Trinity exams also do not expire. Trinity is accepted in some academic and immigration contexts, but less widely recognized than Cambridge. Unlike Cambridge exams, Trinity is focused on real-life communication and practical English skills. There are 2 types; Trinity GESE and Trinity ISE. The GESE is a speaking-only test, while ISE includes all skills.

 

If you're applying to universities in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada, IELTS is widely accepted. The IELTS is also preferred if you're applying for some work or immigration visas (e.g., UKVI requires IELTS). Like TEOFL, the IELTS expires after 2 years.

If you're applying to a university in the USA or Canada, TOEFL is often preferred. It is a very academic exam and tests all 4 skills; speaking, listening, reading, & writing. This exam is also only valid for 2 years.

✔ For professional use: Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE) / C2 Proficiency (CPE)
✔ For immigration: IELTS General
✔ For communication skills: Trinity GESE
